Grief & Resilience
Navigating Loss in Turbulent Times
This experiential workshop is an introduction to grief work, an opportunity to explore and tend to experiences of loss, whether past or present, personal or collective. The modern approach to grief is that it’s a personal issue, a burden to be overcome individually through our own efforts, or privately in the confines of therapy. However in traditional cultures, grief is never carried alone, and grieving well is considered an essential skill to living a meaningful life.
Unexpressed and unacknowledged grief, so prevalent in Australian society today, has significant impacts on our personal and community wellbeing. When we avoid or compress the terrain of grief, we also flatten our capacity for joy. As poet Kahlil Gibran said, “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.”
Through deep listening, sharing, and writing practices we’ll explore our relationship to grief and how grief can be a gateway to personal, cultural and spiritual transformation.
